The Worka Chelbessa community is widely recognized as one of the best coffee-producing communities in Ethiopia today. SNAP Coffee, founded by Negusse Debela, established a washing station in the community only a few years ago, and since then the community has demonstrated the ability to generate some of the best coffee we’ve tasted from Ethiopia. This past year right before the new harvest began, SNAP built a second processing station at a higher elevation within the community in an area called “Danche” in order to potentially further separate the community’s coffees, allowing for new lots to be established and sold independently. Barako Deyaso, a former security guard in the area, owns about 30 acres near the Danche processing site. This year, his coffee was separated to create a single-farmer lot from his own trees, a rarity in Ethiopia where 99% of coffee sold and purchased comes from multiple farmers. The result is a one-of-a-kind experience highlighting the stunning beauty of Ethiopian coffee. We taste vibrant and ethereal tones of fresh key limes and juicy apricots, with floral tones of lemongrass and jasmine weaved throughout. The coffee finishes with a distinct sweetness similar to honey. This coffee is sure to surprise even the most seasoned coffee drinkers with its elegance and complexity.
