Our roaster, Adam, was especially excited about this one—and for good reason. This coffee is a wild ride of flavors, blending the sweet, nostalgic taste of Red Vines with the warm, aromatic kick of Berbere spice. Notes of caramelized plantains add depth, while a delicate white tea finish keeps everything balanced. It’s vibrant, unexpected, and the kind of cup that makes you pause and take another sip, just to make sure you caught it all.

This coffee comes from the Al Obrah region of Yemen, where smallholder farmers cultivate coffee using traditional, centuries-old methods. Due to Yemen’s mountainous terrain and dry climate, coffee is grown in terraced fields at high elevations, often without the use of chemical inputs. The result is a coffee that is uniquely shaped by its environment—bold, complex, and deeply tied to the country’s heritage.

Yemen is a genetic treasure trove of coffee varieties, many of which are unique to the region. Through research and farmer support, Qima Coffee is working to preserve Yemen’s rich coffee heritage while bringing its distinct flavors back to the global stage.

Utopian was founded more than a decade ago by two cousins: one a craft coffee aficionado and the other, a backpacking vagabond who fell in love with coffee-producing countries, cultures, and people.
